I agree with you in that deception of any type is reprehensible, I also agree with Tom that "common sense" can be used to weed out the false from the truth. I also feel that imagination, no matter what format is used to present it, can be a starting point for the development of some desirable things.
The first Star Trek programs had personal communicators which were "desirable", now we have cell phones that look like "personal communicators". Perhaps the cell phones would have developed in that direction without the science fiction "communicators" but I think that the "communicators" had an influence in the design of the cell phones.
Similarly, I think that the "saucer" type craft is "desirable". My quest has been to figure out weather such a craft can be created in reality. For this end, my first step was to research the ideas associated with such notions as UFO's. Adamski's books were among the ones that I read in order to get a "feel" for the "desirability" of such constructions.
Would you not agree that IF we had air/space craft with the purported UFO characteristics, they would be very useful?
Or are you of the opinion that such craft "can not" or "should not" be constructed?
