Gee, ya think?

Criminals have a low regard for all laws. It's in the definition. ;)

Amazingly, this stunningly simple idea is lost on many people who think one way to keep guns out of the hands of criminals is to pass more gun laws. The secret word is "enforcement."

We're having the same problems with illegal immigrants who somehow are reluctant to obey DOT rules in California as well.

Many of our social and crime problems are cultural in nature, and unrelated to being able to buy guns. One would normally expect this to level out, but our immigration rate is huge, and we keep bringing baggage from other cultures in.

We could postulate, for example, that Latin American culture tends to be more "hot-headed." Normally, this would fade out* after about one or two generations of immersion in our culture, but new people are constantly coming in.

And of course, that doesn't even count our home-grown American cultural baggage, which, among others, seems to include some aspects of American Black culture. Ironically, black immigrants tend to do a lot better in many areas (statistically) than black people who have been in America for a hundred years.

Europe is going to find out about cultural impact the hard way when they get enough Muslims living there. There has to be more of an emphasis on absorbing immigrants instead of encouraging them ("cultural sensitivity") to rot in cultural ghettos and fail to assimilate.

It's one thing to bring a heritage of art, food, and dress along with you, and quite another to bring a heritage of, for example, treating women like favored hunting dogs.
