The reason for lumping is
to make the White figures look higher than they really are. By doing this the obvious links between race and crime can be distorted. If Hispanics were given their own catagory, the murder rate for Whites would drop considerably, but how would those statistics look?
According to the stats on the FBI website, Whites (with Hispanics lumped in) account for 33.9% of murders, yet make up over 75% of the population. Blacks on the other hand (which make up 13% of the pop.) account for 35.3% of murders. How would those stats looks if Hispanics were counted separately?
