two sorts of spheres

Look closely at the microscopic views of the outcrop, especially:

You'll see there are two kinds of spheres:

1. spheres that are larger than and distinct from the layering, AKA blueberries
2. smaller spheres that appear welded together to form some of the more resistant layers , or "blueberry jam"

I really want to see the chemistry on these things!
