Losing a limb in military service is losing a limb in military service. To me, it doesn't matter if you cut it off peeling potatoes. Two points, however:
First, has Cleland been advertising his injuries as losses in actual combat? Or has Kerry on his behalf? I don't know the answer to this.
Second, if Bush had associated himself with someone who lost their limbs in the war, the Left would be the first ones out there belittling the wounds if they had not been received in a real battle. Note the various hatchet jobs that have been done on those military people who confirm Bush's Guard service.
Save the virtuous indignation for someone who will buy it.
