re: 108 degree broiler...

A lot would depend on if the high temperature is part of a trackable trend, or just a spike. Insufficient data.

I would really like to see more investment in modern nuclear power systems, instead of the basic 1950s tech in use in many places. A lot of research has been done in this area, and it's time to build power plants.

Using the plant to crack hydrogen from seawater may be an effective way to transmit the energy over long distances. I don't have any numbers. Top number to figure out would be gas losses in a hydrogen pipeline compared to resistance losses in an electrical transmission line for comparable energy densities.

Solar power satellites would be a great long-term solution. We don't really need a space elevator to build solar power satellites. Just a more reasonable approach to designing launch and orbital systems than NASA has been using.

And who knows. Maybe someone will crack the fusion problem.
