re: Natural rights
I dare say a lot of Republicans feel that way. Republicans ain't what they used to be.
There can be no "right" that demands violating the natural rights of another human being. A "right" to food, a "right" to housing, a "right" to transportation, a "right" to health care implies that those who grow the food, build the houses, make the cars, and treat patients must do so by force regardless of compensation or any other consideration.
Stripping money from other parties by armed force in order to pay these people (who decides what they get paid?) doesn't make any difference. It simply moves the looting somewhere off the stage. It doesn't change the principles.
