Conserving energy
What you say is particularly true if they try to get the rovers through the winter. I suspect there's going to be lots of just sitting around, conserving energy, and keeping the heaters alive at night. On the other hand, the rovers are probably going to last a lot longer than their design lifetime, so who's complaining?
