They should have rolled over and taken a closeup shot not on the ground of "suspicious looking object" , but in order to determine, and better understand, how the hardware breaks up and to which extent contaminates the subject under study..(that is a good and valid scientific proposition). I wonder how many fabric pieces were left behind at the initial point of contact.... Also wonder if seeing that piece of fabric moving with the wind could render any useful scientific data or environmental understanding ....and therefore a reason for tracking it. Also wonder what it would take for the scientific team to have the rover roll over into any feature that does not look like a rock ... Well... hope they will get the rover rolling toward the larger crater, the one with a remarkable rim, as soon as possible.
