Would a nuclear energy source contaminate the local environment, screwing up measurements?

And could a "rover" be designed so that a nuclear energy source wouldn't degrade the computers and sensors?

If so, what would be the energy requirements for hauling the shielding?

Damn, I wish Beagle 2 had landed safely!!!
