Considering the number, and the citations, I believe he's counting the AMERICAN deaths in IRAQ.
When one limits the number to AMERICANS killed in IRAQ, one comes up with 564 dead. 1128 parents who have lost a child, and 4512 grandparents who have lost a grandchild. (Doesn't mention the wounded, of which there are a bigger bunch. Downplayed by GWB & Co.)
They seem to have been killed:
A - looking for WMD which weren't there, and which the CIA had said were doubtful, and for which the UN was looking, but not finding (why was that?), or
B - securing 25% of the worlds oil reserves for Halliburton.
Ya pays yer money, and ya takes your pick. Most folks now pick A as the excuse for B.
Option A is unconscionable. Obtion B is also unconscionable. I suspect you could agree with that.
