re: Circular statistics

If you read my post above, you would see that the economy and employment situation that the Democrats are selling does not quite match reality.

So when you talk about how slamming shut the border would help California's "employment problem", you're actually saying that tens of thousands of trained and once well-paid professionals should resign themselves to picking vegetables, changing sheets in hotels, and flipping burgers? Well, gee, why not, what's wrong with reducing productive Americans to the status of "cheap and frightened labor", as long as it helps keeps corporate profits high? Three cheers for capitalism!

Such jobs would be done by entry-level workers, like they have been for decades. I did them. I spent two summers doing hand field work in the cornfields. And again, long before our current employment problems, who the hell was doing these jobs for the past twenty years in states with few illegal immigrants?

As for the "well-paid professionals," what's the difference if they get put to work flipping burgers or doing whatever shitwork Barney Frank has in mind for them? Cleaning up national parks? Hauling dirt building highways? Just what your average tech worker is looking for.

Someone needs to tell Frank that it ain't 1929 anymore, and the unemployment problem isn't a pool of unskilled labor you can put to work building conduits and national park trails.
