Carl Jung wrote: "The centre of all iniquity is invariably found to lie a few miles behind enemy lines. Because the individual has this same primitive psychology, every attempt to bring these age-old projections to consciousness is felt as irritating. Naturally one would like to have better relations with one's fellows, but only on the condition that they live up to our expectations - in other words, that they become willing carriers of our projections."

Now, it is much easier to look at what a rotten world it is, AND TO THINK THAT BY SOMEHOW BRINGING AMERICAN CULTURE TO IT WE ARE HELPING THEM than to look at our problems at home. We have a very sick society - a higher percentage of people in prison than any other country in the world, a rapidly disappearing middle class, an economy propped up by foreigners, both their money and their oil, and if we weren't pointing the finger at all the "bad guys" out there we'd have to face some very uncomfortable realities and deal with them.
And there is no profit for the likes of Halliburton straightening out the problems at home - there is enormous profit bringing "democracy" to Iraq.
