This was a draft but I'm not going to bother finishing it.
"Anybody who uses his skills, time, and effort to add value to something is a producer."
Of course, no one can argue that.
Leftist use of terminology has infected everyone. Most people can’t use the word “producer” without visualizing some rich, greedy fat cat.
I think you might be doing the same thing here by confusing consumers and "looters".
“Consumers” most certainly do buy houses, and cars and TV’s and Cheetos. It’s the demand for consumer goods and services that drives the economy. A shock to the economy like the tech bubble bursting, 911 and the housing market crash replaces consumer confidence with fear. Consumers quit spending and that’s where the government can mitigate things with stimulus. The government takes up some of the slack in purchasing. Of course we as country will pay the price of inflation because of the devaluation of the dollar.
Seriously, tax cuts for job creators? Why not. If your going to create money, why not spread it around a bit and keep people working. But not a rate cut. Use tax credits as a tool. Far more easy to reverse when the time comes.
We had a level of taxation in the 1990’s that worked. There were no known federal tax revolts, hardly a peep about unfair taxes. There was obviously enough after-tax “carrot on the stick” to encourage the next generation of “producers” to create wealth. Bush’s tax cut was more like plopping an extra helping of mashed potatoes on the plates of those who were already full.
If the cuts were such a good idea, why did they include a sunset clause? Solely to placate the Dems I presume…
