I'm less vociferous about it than you are...
I have this block against "belaboring the obvious" (a.k.a. "flogging the dead horse"). I remember that Nixon had his True Believers, too, right up to the resignation. I have the [sarc] wonderful experience [/sarc] you missed by being away from these boards for a while, of endless and pretty-much meaningless posts from the syncophants...
... which, as I understand it, was your main reason for leaving for a while.
And, have you noticed? More or less synchronous with the public disclosures of R. Clarke, the neo-cons and Bush Worshippers on these boards have become intriguingly quiet. Someone I know well characterized it recently as "the conservatives are moulting". One could only hope...
I used to think that the US "intelligence" services either fucked up royally, or edited their findings to [a] suit what they thought the Boss wanted to hear and/or remain employed. As a result of Clarke's statements, I now believe they were [b]ordered to cook the books.
It's not just a matter of semantics. It's called Wag the Dog, and the perpetrators need to be, at worst, removed from office... at best, prosecuted. If the phrase "high crimes and misdemeanors" could, for a time, be construed to include perjury in regard to infidelity, it certainly ought to include deliberately causing the unnecessary deaths of US civilians and servicemen under false pretenses.
Flame » in reply to I must be the only one, which is, I guess, fine.
Not quite "the only"
