Used to be that voting was easy- you just vote your party. Now our 'choice' is much less clear. You have to decide whether or not we are on the right path in the war on terrorism and I don't think that choice is clear either. And we can't ignore the fiscal performance of the Bush administration and their cavalier attitude towards the deficit. I don’t blame Bush for the recession but I don’t think his tax cuts were the answer either.
I’m kind of stuck in a microcosm of the current views our country holds of the candidates. The polls show Bush and Kerry about 50/50 right now and that’s about where I am. What happens to Iraq between July and November will be one deciding factor for me. What Al Qaida does will be another.
I’m growing tired of convincing myself that the message is more important than the messenger. It was refreshing watching Tim Russert hammer Kerry on “Meet the Press†Sunday and to hear Kerry respond thoughtfully to questions without stumbling for the appropriate catch phrase. Bush’s press conference performance was dismal. I wish he had the balls to say “ I don’t feel responsible for 911†rather than ‘answer’ in the typical political fashion.
Anyway I’m trying hard to rid myself of long ingrained idealism I grew up with and join the rest of the adults here, but I still hate being lied to. I didn’t like it when Clinton did it and I knew Bush was lying when he spoke of the war plans. Trivial I guess, but it adds ever so slightly to the Kerry side of the balance beam.
Your movie Idea is always option too. ;)
