I think the UN is an organization made up of most of the countries in the world. These countries are populated by humans and they choose their UN representatives from this pool of humans. Individual humans are certainly self-interested, and sometimes corrupt; countries too. The UN is a democratic institution, except that the countries in the security council wield more power than otherwise.

I think it is an extremely useful organization, and I am glad for it.
