He wasn't any different from the human shields who went to Iraq, and who GWB would have cheerfully blown to heaven.

The very concept of the "human shield" is founded on the fact that Western military forces will try to avoid attacking innocent human beings. Unless this was true, the tactic is meaningless.
This is why you don't see any "human shields" trying to protect Iraqis from insurgents and terror groups. They know damn well those groups would kill them without blinking.
