Motivation? That's an easy one. The political destruction of George W. Bush.
This has been a top priority of many in the media, far more important than getting Kerry elected, except insofar as it gets Bush out of office. Kerry could be anybody right now, and it wouldn't make a difference. Getting Bush defeated is a lot more important than Iraq or any other issue, except insofar as it gets Bush out of office.
There are some even further on the Left who would cheerfully jump into the ocean with an anvil tied around their own ankles if they had Bush's throat in their teeth. The interests of our nation are far lower on their agenda than their hatred of this president. Thankfully, such people are still a minority in the media and other places of influence, but they're there.
Please be careful--I have never implied any form of conspiracy here. There is no "organized group" of newspapers or television shows attacking Bush. It is simply a coinciding set of values. Almost everyone in the media is liberal, and most are Democrats. That's just the way it is, and their values are going to leak through. Nothing sinister about it.
As for specific examples, I and others have posted several just in the past day or two. Browse around.
Do try and remember the last news story that said ANYTHING positive about Bush. Anything at all.
