Tom, do you think I'm surprised by a blog such as the one you produce? I've stated earlier that in any group of people you have your irrrational extremists. It is very likely that such a reporter exists. However, to label all the media as like her is also irrational. I know people in the media that don't wish failure in Iraq and among all my friends, most of which are firmly against this war, none of them have ever expressed a desire that we meet with failures there. Did your little shred of a conscience ever consider that your neo-conservative rhetoric just might be the very spark that causes people like that reporter to spout out the things she does however wrong she might be in expressing them out loud?
People say hurtful things in debates and arguments out of frustration in seeing the idiocy grow day by day. Obviously the perceived ethical way of ousting George Bush in the upcoming election is through our political process and fair and honest debate but those rules don't seem to work these days. The huge political war chest of the Republican party, which didn't grow from the small contributions of centrist private citizens, can seem insurmountable to most voters. We're at a time where honest debate counter to the administration policies is being called treason by very popular media personalities. Sometimes, to someone not on the neo-conservative bandwagon, the future can seem rather hopeless.
I liken it to my morning commute when the realization hits that you share the road with some very evil drivers and that little fantasy crosses your mind of having your Saturn station wagon equipped with James Bond style machine guns. Obviously I could never do that to the idiots on the road. The rational thought of it is reprehensible and inhuman but the fantasy of it all can help hold down the frustration level.
Just perhaps that reporter was letting off steam in the same way. It's just as plausible as your contention that she's some evil politico willing to sacrifice soldiers and civilian lives to dump GWB from the presidency. I'm curious how you're going to look back on all this in a few years from now.
