Definitely he doesn't. That he holds a position of some authority in Iran reflects Iran's current political climate. It doesn't reflect Islam as a whole. To imply that it does is erroneous and counterproductive. Islamist radicals will not love us, fear us or respect us more for such views, and devout Muslims who are not Islamist radicals will be suspicious and fearful of our motives if they perceive us as anti-Muslim.
May I remind you that until recently, members of the Klan could and did hold positions of authority and respect in American governmental institutions? They were not yahoos standing on a soapbox in the park either. You yourself went through a phase of pointing this out frequently in discussing the record of one Democratic United States Senator in particular.
