Kennedy and labor.....

When Kennedy was concerned about rampant inflation he advocated a "voluntary" price freeze.

US Steel declined from volunteering and raised their prices.

Kennedy went balistic and advised the government, including the military would be prohibited, by executive order, from buying any tank, plane, ship, or other product made using US Steel material.

Roger Blough, as Chair of US Steel, was interviewed by the press and asked what he thought about Pres. Kennedy and his position.

Mr. Blough responded, "I can only wish they would make him Pope."

The astounded reporter could only ask, "why?"

The reply was, "Then I would only have to kiss his ring."
