A few brief comments

Benjamin Franklin raised private money for his first library. It was a subscription library.

Andrew Carnegie spent his own cash for his work.

Go back and research the Morrill Act, to find out how the Land Grant system was actually supposed to work.

In the early 19th century, most road construction was privately financed. There were over 2,000 companies that did such work.

The Federal Highway Department was begun in 1956 solely to fund and build the interstate highway system. As with many other government programs, we can see that its mission has been somewhat expanded. We can also see that we managed building roads pretty damn well up until then down at the state and local level.

You might want to sit and think a while about what our railroad system might be like if the government had not subsidized the automobile.

Now, can we go on to the real socialism issues, like the nearly two-thirds of the Federal budget devoted solely to wealth redistribution?
