New interim government in place ready to take charge. Sistani lends support to the new government and it appears to have the support of most Iraqis. Agreement on disbanding of militias is a huge plus. Sadr looking for help from the other shiite mullahs to bail him out of his self made mess, as his militia has lost its stomach to fight. Iraqi police patroling Najaf and ending Sadr's makeshift "sharia courts" which were terrorizing locals and punishing anyone they accussed of helping the coalition and the new Iraqi government. UN looks like it will back the new government and US led multinational force. All quiet on the Fallujah front. Haven't heard anything from Tikrit (Saddam's hometown) in months.
Overall the situation is not looking all that bad. Still a lot of bad guys running around but in little over half a year there will be national democratic elections and Iraq's future will start looking brighter every day.
Some good things are happening in Iraq
