I appreciate that, but how effective was it? He's back to civil and sometimes useful posting - did this flame influence that or does he just fluctuate anyway? And is this the best way to go about it?

Since I am inexperienced at forums like this, I took the flame blurb literally when I saw some of Lee's nasty pro-Nazi stuff:

those posts serving no other purpose that bitching, moaning and cursing at other people/things. For here is their home, not being welcomed by any other, and here they shall thrive.

- and, noticing other instances of abuse-venting, thought I'd "call the cat a bastard" and go both barrels. The idea of him in a homoerotic bond with a dominant Hitler was inspired partly from The Man in the High Castle and from a scene (involving some now long-forgotten police chief) in a Canadian 70s hippie comic book. But I'm embarrassed by that now, and am thinking more of the 'reasoned-and-relentless' polemic as the way to go.

In the end, HZ should simply faciliate free discussion and polemic - after all, even if we 'win' - even if the 'good' totally vanquished the 'evil' posters here with ferocity - what difference would that make in the outside world? We will only have indulged our own ideological outrages, when we could have instead got into some serious vigorous polemic - which then would attract more interest and attention than abuse, btw.

Yes, Lee's a biggot, AND a sexual predator ... We've discussed banning him. As long as someone keeps their sex life private, and talks civily, they are allowed to stay.

Geez, I don't know what that's all about, sounds heavy. All I can gather from this remark is that you could be referring to some previous weird or extreme sexual bragging posts ..?

By the way since you are obviously religious, I feel I can mention here - reforming and redemption should always be possible and available for any individual, regardless of their circumstances. Who knows who we really are, and what might tip the scales and change someone's mind. I did hear about Nazis, racists etc. eventually having second thoughts, and regretting their earlier convictions. That type of 'convert' can be the best ally of all ..

I've actually been wondering lately - what does 'joining' HZ mean? Is there a formality involved, or is it a more or less based on participation and 'visibility'? (or a type of seniority?)
