What deliberate ignorance is shown here. I know this cartoon was meant to be humorous, but I am sadly all too reminded of how willfully ignorant people want to remain about anything outside of their tiny little lives. Especially when it comes to astronomy.

The Venus Transit is probably one of the easier cosmological concepts to comprehend: Venus gets inbetween the Sun and Earth - oh gee, I think I fired an actual neuron or two over that one.

It is sadly amusing how the talking bugs on one small rock in a Universe of billions of galaxies with hundreds of billions of stars each can't get beyond their pedestrian little lives. It's one thing if they were never taught to appreciate existence beyond Fox News, but to purposely ignore the Greater Reality we all live in, that is a crime. One that continues to be "rewarded" by the media and powers that be to keep the public asleep and under their control, please note.

If the ignorant sheep want to sink into their own dark age, let them, but do not drag down the rest of us with them into the gutter.

"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking up at the stars." - Oscar Wilde
