Bush plans on being in the Middle East a long, long, long time.

Whatcha wanna bet the start will be permanent military bases in Iraq. Already being built.

Second, continuing the control of Iraqi revenue from oil, laundering the money through Texas.

Third, effective control of the Iraqi government, through having an army not under Iraqi control running around the country. It will be easy enough to stage provocation for any military action desired, except that Bush doesn't need provocation. The Iraqi government would "request" military assistance in putting down anti-government elements (read "anti-American").

Out of there in 2005 - not on your life.

Attempts by President George Bush to exploit the diplomatic triumph of the United Nations resolution on Iraq were last night running into stiff opposition at the G8 summit, as France joined Arab countries in deriding the White House plans for a greater Middle East initiative.

Buoyed by the 15-0 UN security council vote, Mr Bush and Tony Blair were seeking a three-pronged follow-up that would involve greater Nato involvement in Iraq, plans to bring western-style democracy and economic reform to the Middle East and north Africa and a resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
