It's been said before but these polls are not meaningful until after the party conventions. Typically each candidate receives a popularity boost after their party conventions. The L.A. Times poll was particularly meaningless (the L.A. Times predicted Bustamonte would be governor of California).
I don't think Bush is worried yet. Kerry has lots of skeletons in his closet. When Bush's campaign managers feel their backs are against the wall, then they'll trot out all the dirty stuff they have on Kerry. It'll happen within a month or two before the election so it can have maximum impact (the public only has a two week memory span).
I'm a registered Democrat living in California (I'm also a life long Reagan Hater who voted for Carter). My vote will have no impact because Kerry has California in the bag. However I'll vote for Bush anyway because of my strong support for Bush's war against terrorism. My support for the war over rides my dislike of Bush's fiscal policy and pandering to the religious right. I fear that if Kerry is elected President, it could initiate a process that could lead to nuclear war and a probable collapse of our democractic system of government. This is probably the most important election since Nixon ran against Hubert Humphrey.

It's too early and the polls are too close to be meaningful
