re: Quagmire

Please explain to me how terrorists attacking Iraqi leaders comes under the definition of "quagmire" for the United States. Do you honestly think that any of this would be different if by some impossible miracle Saddam, his army, and his goons had suddenly vanished in a puff of purple smoke a year ago without any foreign troops at all, and tried to create a free Iraq on their own?

Insurgents trying to return Iraq to a tyranny will be a problem long after Iraq has had its own elected government and security forces.

You might have noticed attacks in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, and other nations that aren't occupied.

You are missing the big picture completely. To hear you and others talk, the world would just be a big terror-free cotton candy birthday party if we had never invaded Iraq.
