Why is it another right-left thing?
It's a rational critical mind versus an irrational non critical mind thing.
Those who have a critical and rational mind don't accept stories without proof or without common sense and/or logical thinking. Why the need to believe in something that is so out of reach ? They ask themselves the question of their own beliefs. They also see what goes on elsewhere and what others think of their own beliefs.
It's a matter of education: has someone learned to use his critical mind or is his background such that faith takes over?
It's also a cultural thing.
Crop circles appear in certain countries (mostly anglo-saxon ones) and hardly ever in other ones (if they do they're never interpreted as alien signs). Alien Greys and abduction stories are also especially limited to the US and very rarely elsewhere.
