The good news is that I'm sure you don't believe that stuff.

Oh, the '50s had some advantages, all right. A working stiff probably belonged to a union, before Reagan and Bush the first drove the nails into that coffin, a lot of people owned little shops from which they could make a living, before Wal-Mart drove them out of business, and people generally had dinner with their families.

They didn't have pensions, health insurance, and if they were hurt on the job they were fired. There were so few people, that air and water quality wasn't much of a problem, and a "Sunday drive" was great recreation.

A broken arm cost them an arm and a leg, and it was thanks to unions that employers started providing insurance, the same unions the Rs have been so eager to bust.

And on and on and on.

The short of it is that conservatives have been against anything except corporate profits, with a hearty "the hell with people" attitude hidden behind doublespeak.

And that's just the obvious, unarguable stuff. It's deeper.

(Conservatives love war, too. Any war. Killing. Because bullets cost money, and money means profits.)
