Centre Left/Center Right
1. 9/11 was somewhat analogous to Pearl Harbor -- it brought us into a "war on terror", AND 9/11 was a crime and the perpetrators should be found and punished .
2. War is sometimes a necessary evil
3. The United Nations is a untrustworthy organization, but it's the best we got right now, so make the most of it and engage rather dictate/alienate.
4. Saudi Arabia is a big problem, and we need their oil. We also need to cut oil reliance.
5. Arabs use Israel as an excuse and a diversion; they use Palestinians as a way to divert public opinion away from their failed regimes, AND Israel/Palestine is an unholy mess which the US and UN should attempt to fix. A solution to that problem would do more to stabilize the area then the removal of Saddam.
6. Islam is a religion which most of the West has no frigging idea what to do with. It's also an excuse for terrorism.
7. People are responsible for their actions. They can also be victims too....
8. In the long run the only way to win this war is to induce ECONOMIC reform in the mid-East. Ending poverty will do more to end terrorism than blowing up civilians will. Whether this requires political/cultural reform is an entirely different matter.
9. World opinion of the US should not be THE primary focus of American foreign policy, but should be taken into account. One objective of our foreign policy should rectify the current state of affairs.
Whaddyathink?
Too nuanced?
I'll take your word for the neo-cons.
Half your left points are just whacked.
