Gee .. are you talking to me?
I expected a more measured response. I still follow and learn from your posts. But what set you off here? I have every right to whinge if I wish - especially if it's an example of an issue of general and critical social concern.
And yes I'll say it again: these alien, avaricious economic forces adversely affect both the individual and the community.
Now, point by point:
If you want to see rents come down, stop penalizing homebuilding. Or did you think housing was immune to market forces?
What are you talking about? I'm all for homebuilding - that is, building homes which people can afford, not million dollar dog-boxes. This is a major and widely known problem here - the lack of affordable housing.
Did I say I wanted and believe in 'socialist ant warrens' (or whatever)? Please don't confuse me for someone else. I spent a lot of time and effort here at HZ trying to show that I think independently on separate issues. I hope I built up an 'account of credibility' (to use Robert's concept). I think people noticed that. So what's going on then?
In any case you wanted some comparitive stats on Sydney pollution (why not ask me directly - have you got a feather somewhere yourself, or what?) Anyway, here's something from 1998 - I don't know whether the authors are commies or not, though - sorry.
And yes, it has gotten a lot worse since then.
