"Spooky" is a good word for it! I'd been aware of entanglement research, quantum and laser teleportation; and separately, work on propulsion systems. But the way this guy brings them together...maybe it's an "ah ha!" moment, or maybe it's a "yeah, sure, pull the other one" moment, but it's fun to think about.
There's some good science fiction in the concept. Imagine a multiyear deepspace mission powered by installations on Earth, and what might happen if there's political change or unrest threatening those installations. It's been done with different premises, like a laser pushing a lightsail. Variations are possible, including free-enterprise and the consequences of not paying your bill on time...one downside to the concept is that you're still tied to "the grid". Mother Earth will have one hell of a hold on colonists until they can build their own power plants; tie-ins there to historical colonial strategy and attempts to maintain control artificially by enforcing a monopoly on things like transportation and trade. There's story right there about rebellious colonists trying to secretly obtain the forbidden entanglement power plant technology.
Nice find, Tom.
