Reading it.

Lindy, the largest hole in the entire "advanced intelligence" theory is that for some reason the method chosen for communication by such an entity would be drawing pictures in wheat.

This is like the Galactic Federation coming to Earth and deciding they will announce their presence by sneaking into back yards in the middle of the winter and writing their names in the snow.

What's the point?

I'm not a physics expert, but I can think of several more impressive ways an intelligent plasma, or any entitity capable of manipulating such forces, could influence its environment to communicate in ways other than by flattening wheat. THINK about it.

You have to remember that many of the professional crop circle investigators have their entire lives and reputations bet on the premise that these patterns aren't being made by human beings. They are not going to be easily convinced otherwise.

So much of this kind of phenomenon is based on an all-too-human hope that somehow, Someone will come to Earth and save us from all this, and solve our problems for us. Or at least allow us to grow 75-pound cabbages.

It's amusing that this includes proud "atheists" who are smugly contemptuous of Christians who believe that they will someday be "raptured" away from all their troubles.
