There' just no head count for the American press. It doesn't have to be a conspiracy. Just a bureaucratic procedure. In my business, I get to talk to major players in just about everything because of it's proximity to the airport and major accomodations.

A couple of nights ago, I talked to one of the organizers for Florida Power who heads up their disaster team. I brought up the context of this thread, which is the under-reported deaths from our hurricane disasters. He admitted the press wasn't covering it, and he pretty much gave the same reasons as Micheal Edwards. He said during Hurricane Andrew (a category 5 storm that hit south Miami and the Everglades 12 years ago), he said there were hundreds of migrant workers who were found dead in their camps out in the Everglades. Being mostly illegals, they were never counted. And yes, he says it's worse than we thought.

I post this because I live here, because I lived through it, and I knew IMMEDIATELY after the storm, that the death tolls were vastly under reported. It's no big deal to me.

And Michael Edwards gives out enough information that anyone can check it out.....loud mouth RL as well. His post to me today belongs on Flame, yet he has done this time and time again. He actually has no respect for the dead, the suffering, and the amount of heart breaking labor it is taking to put us all back together. Maybe instead of firing his dirty mouth off, he might want to check his facts or complain to the moderator, if my posts are so offensive to him.

Pity he lives in Hawaii. Maybe a tsnuami will get him and his islanders and he can come here and argue death counts with me and I'll tell him he's full of it.
