re: Iraq: Exactly - What the facts is

"Let us assume the worse, that France was trying to hide commercial agreements with Saddam."
This is hardly the worst- and it's a fact that there was a "campaign" to hide these commerical agreements.

"It would have been easier for the inspectors to have uncovered the evidence of Saddam's continued evasion in a stable environment, instead of the chaos which is Iraq today. Right now, we have no idea as to what has left Iraq for where. Besides the "what", there's the "who", as several senior weapons engineers have also fled."

Without a 100,000 plus invasion force on Iraq border, Saddam's choice was to kick the inspectors out of Iraq. The question is will Saddam's regime EVER cooperate with inspectors or does Saddam continue play the cat and mouse game. The question is will Iraq comply with it's cease fire agreement? If Saddam doesn't wish to arrive at a peace arrangement with Kuwait and other in region. And Saddam seem willing to use WMD on it's citizens and others. And Saddam doesn't care about it's nation, but only Saddam's personal power. And Saddam has ties with terror groups.
What do you do? Kick the can further down the road by continuing this "game" where we continue to maintain a "No fly Zone" in which Saddam "tries" to attack these aircraft. And continue the sanctions which affect the citizens more then the leader- Saddam smuggles and trade illegally- while citizens are "assisted" by us in economic suppression.
If you want to actually do something about terrorism instead of papering over the problem, what do you do?

"But this is superficial. Fundamentally, the people most to blame are the Israeli expansionist faction. If either Camp David (Carter) or Oslo (Bush Snr) had of been implemented, none of this, none of it, would be happening now."

It requires quite a number of twists to blame the "Israeli expansionist faction" for Saddam's invasion of Kuwait.
