Imagine the complexity of a huge body of JavaScript which has been patched for nine years with special-case fixes for different browsers and computers.

Actually, I can honestly say that what you describe is so completely and devistatingly horrid that I don't think I could sleep after seeing it. Javascript tends to lean towards 'ugly hackishness' naturally, special cases within special cases within ..... No, Must not think about it.

My first preferred option in this world would be to tell everyone to download mozilla and throw the f'ing mac in the dumpster. Haha.
