I started reading through the link at lunch. I'll spend more time with it this weekend.
From what I've read so far, Gentoo may be for me. I like the way the webpage describes all the steps and all the optional steps available. (I installed Red Hat a few years ago on an old 486 just for kicks, and the install was not too easy. I did manage it on my 2nd attempt, but the system was too slow to use a GUI on, so the machine got unplugged and has been in my garage ever since.)
I have a good broadband connection, so I may just try a stage1 or stage 2 install. The well documented site really helps to steel my resolve.
XFS is not an option, since I don't have a battary backup, and this is not important enough for me to buy one. At first glance ReiserFS looks pretty good. Is there anything I need to be wary of?
Thats as far as I've read on the site, but I am impressed.
