I couldn't have put it better myself.
38 Republicans deliberately chose to vote on the wrong side of a bipartisan issue originated by Republicans. All the Democrats voted for it along with 8 Republicans and 2 independents. There is simply no way you can blame that on a Democratic conspiracy.
This was a Tea Party attempt to frustrate an Obama vote, as they have done in almost every case, even on issues Republicans have supported in the past. They have done it with votes, in committee, with parliamentary maneuver, with filibusters, at every single opportunity they have had. It was done to make Obama look weak and inneffectual and vote him out and them in. And it didn't work. The American people saw right through it and voted for the other guy, twice. Not to mention hurting you badly in the Senate and House.
Like their gerrymandering and voter suppression efforts (yeah, I know you don't believe that either) they have accomplished just the opposite: pissed people off so much its backfired on them. Tom, did it ever occur to you that Mitt Romney could easily have won this election if his party hadn't been such pricks?
You might want to reflect on that. It might have an effect on your rhetorical style.
The Tea Party Putsch has failed, the Reichstag's still standing, and you're pissing down your leg so no one will hear the noise.
