I'm all for reason but I'm reminded of some text in William L. Shirer's "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich". Before WW-II started, Shirer travelled all over Germany as a newspaper reporter and witnessed the rise of Hitler. Shirer commented about having political discussions with some educated and highly intelligent officers in the SS. Shirer was impressed with their ability to logically defend something that was utterly evil. "Being right" is sometimes not a function of intelligence or education. Sometimes, simply being presented with information in the correct order is more important than being smart enough to process the information, e.g. not being in Germany during 1933. Some of the smartest and nicest guys that I know are foaming at the mouth liberals. It's disturbing.
