Hello Evil -

The problem with your argument is that while the needs of that 5% to 10% swing vote are taken care of by your hypothetical candidate, the needs of the rest of the population on the losing side are ignored.

The problem with the current electoral college system is that it is increasing the polarization and fragmentation of society generally.
