Good question!

I'd like to know some details of the captioning process myself. Is it a person typing it in on live shows, like a court reporter? Or is it computerized?

Something else funny: On entertainment programs, which I assume are captioned ahead of time, I often see situations where the dialog says one thing, and the captions say something clearly and without mistakes, but completely different from what is said in the show. Like one joke will be told by the characters, but another different joke or line shows up in the captions. Like it got lost between two drafts of a script.

Another thing: the captioning process seems to be generated inside your set, interpreting some form of signal. When I have reception problems, the picture loses a little quality, but the captions turn to gibberish. This also happens when I tape a show on the VCR at SLP (the lowest quality format.)
