Privately funded displays
Who owns the land? Is it the taxpayers? Why should they have to pay for upkeep of land that's being used for a private promotional activity for a particular set of religious beliefs?
Religious displays on private property paid for by private funds with public exposure are legal. Using taxpayer funded anything to promote a religious belief, even if it's shared by the majority of citizens, is not.
If religious organizations are upset that they aren't being underwritten in their prostletizing, they get no sympathy from me. They're already tax-exempt. Let them use some of the money they don't pay in property taxes.
