At the time of the Revolutionary War, it was apparent that it would not have taken a lot of capitulation on the part of England to simmer the colonies back down again. Even some of the Founding Fathers would have been happy to remain Englishmen if their grievances had been properly addressed.
Makes you wonder where history would have gone from there. I think England abolished slavery in its colonies in the 1830s. What would have happened over in "New England?" Would the South have broken away from the Mother Country again? Would the Civil War have been fought between the Confederate States and English colonies? Would Manifest Destiny have arisen as an idea? Would Louisiana have remained French, and the Southwest Spanish?
Maybe there would have been wars that never happened in our own history on this continent. Would continental wars between France and England have found another front at the Mississippi River?
Flame » in reply to Boy that sure doesn't read that Carter thought we were wrong to fight the war, simply that the British failed to see the folly.
Speculation...

- Definitely meant other than the terrorists themselves.
- YOur question reduces the responsibility of those who decided to wage war against us. It is truly a pathetic question.
