P.S.

Don't give me your "liberals love other countries before us" BS. I fly a flag on flag day and have great pride in those things we do well, we are a great nation that could be safer and better off.

It's a lot more subtle than liberals "loving other countries before us." That's an oversimplification, and not accurate anyway.

What it seems to be is a knee-jerk, gut reaction that in any conflict (political, military, economic, or otherwise) between America and a foreign power of ANY kind, that somehow America is probably in the wrong.

That if you take a Frenchman or other European and stand him next to someone from Iowa, that the Frenchman is the superior of the two.

That if our enemies commit monstrous atrocities and mass murder, and we abuse prisoners in a jail, that the former is ignored while the latter is obsessed upon. "Higher standards," and all.

That if we are attacked, that it must be something we did wrong to make it happen.

That it goes without saying that other nations are a better judge of whether or not we should go to war than we are.

These aren't reasoned responses. They are driven into people in colleges and by peers, but it's there. While they certainly aren't universal across the Left, I have done enough observation to make a pretty good case for it.

Some people say "America, right or wrong." This is not a good foundation for reasoned discussion. But neither is "America, always wrong."

Kerry radiates this attitude like a blue-white star. I don't know how much it will affect the election.

I'm glad you fly your flag. A lot of people hissed in fury when the flags came out after 9/11. I remember, even if a lot of others don't.
