" - - - an ever bitter population realizing how humiliating the Iraqi campaign is."

I agree there would be a good deal of poetic justice in having Bush have to deal with the results of his 4 years of malfeasance, but I believe he would be happy in breaking the treasury and fighting wars.

Then there would be no money for domestic programs, a conservative dream, the military-industrial complex would be wealthier and more powerful, more conservative ecstasy, and the US military would be guarding Middle East oil for Halliburton, et al.

For him, paradise.

As far as the US realizing how humiliating the Iraq situation is, we won't. Not as a nation. Heck, look at these boards - they blame Europe and the UN for not sending troops to die in Bush's illegal war.

As if the US would send troops to die in a war started by France against the objections of the US. Or if the Russians had asked for help in Afghanistan. However, the Russians were too proud to ask for help there, unlike the US, which has grovelled before the UN and every two-bit nation in the world trying to get folks to carry Bush's coals.

I wish the US could realize what a mistake Vietnam was, so as to not repeat it. I believe the reality is just to horrendous to be acknowledged.
