It's more important, and more insidious, than partisan politics
All of the Republicans I know personally, and/or here, are educated people with a solid grounding in science. Not a one of them would swallow this crap.
This is about ignorance and religious zeal, and the way those two conditions feed back and reinforce each other.
I expect that the people who will be active in fighting this instance, including the ACLU, will do so regardless of their party affiliation.
