The Christian fanatic creationist folks. People awaiting the Rapture. Rabid anti-abortionists. Gay haters. I do think that the religious right's potential influence has decreased since they appeared on the threat screen in the 80s. No longer do you see and hear the Reed and Falwell types on a continuous basis. The Rs want a broad tent as Arnold said in his speech. That means that some folks in the tent will make others very uncomfortable.
The important thing is...that the Rs do not let these folks take control of the party and its ideology like the far left, Deaniacs etc. have done with the Democrats. Dem rhetoric has gotten very conspirational and illogical. It was not always that way. Not when I worked for their candidates.
