Current Events » in reply to Putin says Russia will develop a new class of strategic missile

On the bright side, or at least the slightly brighter side,

Improvments in guidance and targeting over the past decades have resulting in an immense reduction in overall megatonnage around the world, if not always quantity of weapons.

When you can hit one building with a warhead, you use a very small warhead. In the old days, when your targeting was plus-or-minus a few miles, you used a damned big atom bomb and so sorry about the collateral damage.

Nobody wants to see nuclear weapons start flying around, even small ones, but at least almost none of them are multi-megaton city-blasters any more.
